2. Searching for newspapers:
If you want to identify newspapers from a particular place, you need to use a directory. Directories available include:
- Bowker's UlrichsWeb (Limit search to Serial Type= Newspaper and specify Publisher State or City)
- Canadian Almanac and Directory (Canadian Newspapers)
- ABYZ News Links (International Newspapers)
- Rowell's & Ayer's American Newspaper Directory (Historical U.S. and Canadian Newspapers)
- Newspaper Directories in HIL Reference Stacks
3. Searching for news stories:
Many of our Newspaper Packages permit you to search for stories within the particular newspapers. For other news sources, you will need to use an index to locate your story.
Selected resources include:
- CPI.Q (Canadian Periodicals Index Quarterly): very strong newspaper title list from British Columbia and Ontario. To see a listing of newspapers, under Publication Search, click List all Publications, then limit by Publication Format.
- CBCA (Canadian Business and Current Affairs)
- Canadian Newspapers FULLTEXT (Infomart) New Brunswick newspapers, including The Daily Gleaner, The Telegraph Journal, and The Moncton Times Transcript from 1998-date and a variety of Canadian newspapers
- ABI/Inform Complete: North American and international; business/trade & industry; with good coverage of South America
- Business Source Ultimate: local and international; business
- Indexes to Atlantic Canadian Newspapers
