Agreements and correspondence (books and films). -- 1947-1994. -- 12 cm of textual records

Scope and content: This subseries contains agreements with publishers and film makers respecting book publishing and movie rights. It also contains correspondence with agents, film makers, readers, literary critics, reviewers, and friends.

Communications with agents and film makers (Crawley Films, Launder-Gilliat Productions, Argonaut Films, Atlantis, EMI, Blazer) discuss contracts, plots, characters, scripts, casting, filming, and distribution. Correspondence with friends, literary critics, reviewers, and readers discusses plot, characters, settings, and research. It also includes opinions of manuscripts as well as Walker's thoughts on Canadian readers and the Canadian publishing industry.

This subseries also contains a few book reviews, the film script of Abitibi, the outline of a film script for Where the High Winds Blow, Walker's early record of short story sales, and his notes about daily word production for Geordie and The Pillar.

File arrangement is alphabetical.

Agreements with publishers for The Pillar and Lean, Wind, Lean as well as additional correspondence about movie rights, scripts and casting are located in series 3, subseries 1, correspondence (literary agents and publishers).
