Literary career. -- 1947-1994. -- 315 cm of textual records and 3 photographs :b&w ; 15 x 20 cm or smaller

Scope and content: This series documents Walker's literary career as author of 20 books and approximately 100 short stories. It also reflects his business interest in the motion picture industry. A few of Walker's articles of non-fiction, which offer insights into his personal life, his friendship with Lord Wavell, and his literary career, are included.

This series consists of 5 subseries: 1. correspondence (literary agents and publishers), 2. agreements and correspondence (books and films), 3. short stories and novelettes, 4. published short stories, 5. articles (non-fiction), 6. books and scripts, and 7. reviews.

It includes correspondence with literary agents, publishers, film makers, and readers; agreements with publishers and film makers; royalty statements; notes; reviews; and drafts of short stories, articles, scripts, and books. Also included are published copies of short stories which appeared in a variety of magazines and periodicals.

A listing of book titles with dates of publication is attached to subseries 6, books and scripts.

The Governor General's award for fiction (medals) which Walker won in 1952 and 1953 for The Pillar and Digby respectively are located in series 6, artifacts.
