Scope and content: This series contains materials relating to the university's research fund for faculty and its sabbatical research grants which were awarded to professors in lieu of salary during sabbatical leave.

University research fund files contain incoming and outgoing correspondence, memos, reports, and statements of policies and procedures, as well as proposals for the establishment of the fund, a copy of the regulations governing use of the grants, copies of fund applications, listings of approved grants, and listings of applications not funded.

Sabbatical research grant files contain incoming and outgoing communications which relate primarily to applications for and awarding of research grants and the fund's policies and procedures. The bulk of correspondence contained in the sabbatical grant files is addressed to or signed by D. F. Rowan, Acting Dean of Graduate Studies.
